Job Description

Our client is a leading integrated marine transport business and also specializes in the storage of crude oil, petroleum products, semi-petroleum products, and liquefied who are now seeking a highly motivated and organized Marine Insurance and Claim Manager to join their team.

Key Responsibilities

Ship Insurance and Claims Management

  • Monitoring and inspecting all insurance contracts.
  • Controlling and checking the annual premium payment following the contracts, rules, and regulations.
  • Controlling and checking the ship repair expenses from the ship management company (NMC, NSSG, TIM) based on the actual amount that the reserve company paid to the insurance company.
  • Managing the receipt of notifications and coordinating events between various departments related, such as the Marine Department (TMD) or insurance agents in the event of damage to the ship, the property of the ship’s personnel or the goods, and the supervisor’s report.
  • Controlling and checking insurance claims.
  • Analyzing the necessity and worthiness of ship insurance regarding the market situation, customer groups, and demand for services including consistency of the business plan and company policy.
  • Planning and participating in the annual budget for insurance expenses/ship insurance policy renewal considering the appropriateness of the overall budget, needs, and policies of the company .
  • Negotiating the insurance premiums to be most appropriate and worthwhile.

Department Management

  • Establishing and maintaining relevant controls and feedback systems to monitor the operation of the department.
  • Managing the preparation and maintenance of reports necessary to carry out the functions of the department. Prepares periodic reports for management, as necessary or requested, to track strategic goal accomplishment.
  • Planning and implementing systems that perform the work and fulfill the mission and the goals of the department and company efficiently and effectively.
  • Planning and allocating resources to staff and accomplishing the work to meet departmental and company productivity and quality goals.
  • Planning, evaluating, and improving the efficiency of business processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and comply with the laws and regulations.
  • Reviewing performance data that includes financial, sales, and activity reports and monitoring and measuring departmental productivity, goal achievement, and overall effectiveness.
  • Supervising the preparation of the work manual complies with the quality policies such as Work Manual (WM), Work Instruction (WI), and Procedures.
  • Making business decisions that are financially responsible, accountable, and justifiable following organization policies and procedures.
  • Communicate regularly with other managers, the directors, the vice president, the CEO, and other designated contacts within the organization.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Maritime, Ship Engineering, Actuary or related.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in maritime, tanker, oil & gas, or logistics business and at least 7 years experience in management or supervisory level.
  • Excellent coordinating & interpersonal skills.
  • Fit well with long-term career development and sustainability organization.
