**What your background should look like**

**Your day at NTT DATA**
The Associate Environmental Health and Safety Officer is 1-3 years of experience in within the Environmental Health and Safety job family and has the primary responsibility to provide support in the implementation of the Environmental Health, and Safety (EHS) policies.
This role ensures healthy and safety conditions in the work environment to prevent harm, injury and illness and works closely with a variety of stakeholders to institute control and remedial measures for hazardous and potentially hazardous conditions or equipment, including those that harm the external environment.
This role provides support in the analysis and design control for the prevention of occupational diseases, manages the risk related to the environment and related incident management.
**Key responsibilities:**
+ Provides support by conducting surveys and assessments to identify hazardous conditions that affect workers, property, the environment and the general public and develop measures to eliminate these.
+ Assists with surveying and investigating the working conditions, determining the causes, and recommending action that will prevent further incidents or accidents.
+ Assists with providing advice around the practical steps to ensure compliance to laws and regulations that govern EHS matters.
+ Provides support by conducting risk assessments and related audits to mitigate organizational liability against relevant laws and regulations.
+ Provides support on new employee health and safety orientation.
+ Provides support by conducting safety training and education programs with existing employees, including demonstrating the use of safety equipment.
+ Assists with co-ordinate and attend related committee meetings.
+ Works closely with external stakeholders, including the local authorities, communities, hospitals and disaster management groups to develop maintain and update emergency response plans and procedures.
+ May act evacuation marshal, fire marshal and/or incident coordinator.
+ Performs any other EHS activities as required by management.

+ Knowledge and understanding of applicable laws, regulations and other legal regulations that govern environment, health and safety in the workplace.

**Academic qualifications and certifications:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field.
+ Professional certification in Safety Officer (if required by local regulations) is preferred.
**Required experience:**
+ 1-3 years of experience in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), EHS, Safety Management, or related functions.
+ Experience with environmental health and safety issues in a related industry / environment.
+ Experience dealing with a variety of stakeholders and influencing decision making to manage business risk.
+ Experience dealing with legislators and governing bodies.
+ Knowledge of the environmental, health and safety laws, regulations, codes, and standards and their application and interpretation.
