Issara Institute is an independent non-profit organization based in Asia and the United States tackling human trafficking and forced labor from the lens of business and human rights.  The Institute was established in 2014 by a team of anti-trafficking experts coming out of the United Nations who created an alliance of private sector, civil society, and government partners committed to transformational, sustainable, worker-driven approaches to labor issues, especially those occurring in global supply chains.  It is staffed by leading regional and international experts in labor rights, business and human rights, and research and technology.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Architect to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader and passionate technologist with a deep understanding of software architecture and system design. You will be responsible for defining the technical vision, strategy and technical roadmap for our product portfolio, aligned to our business strategy. This role requires a blend of hands-on technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to mentor and guide engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architectural Leadership:

Lead the design and implementation of complex, B2C and B2B software systems. Define and enforce architectural standards, best practices, and design patterns across the organization.
- Technical Strategy:

Develop and maintain a technical roadmap for new and existing projects, aligning it with business goals and product strategy. Identify and evaluate new technologies, tools, and platforms to improve efficiency and innovation.
- System Design & Review:

Conduct architectural reviews of existing and new systems. Collaborate with managers and directors, the tech developers team, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust and scalable technical solutions.
- Mentorship & Guidance:

Act as a technical mentor and a subject matter expert for tech developers team members. Provide guidance on complex technical challenges, promote a culture of technical excellence, and help upskill team members.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Work closely with cross-functional teams, including managers and directors, DevOps, and tech developers, to ensure seamless integration and deployment of solutions.
- Problem Solving:

Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, providing expert-level support to development teams.
- Strategic Impact:

This role is critical for ensuring the long-term technical health and scalability of our products. The Senior Technical Architect will act as a strategic partner to senior leadership, helping to make informed technology investments and mitigate future technical debt.

Qualifications:

Experience:

5+ years of experience in a senior technical leadership role

Education:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

Technical Expertise:

• Proven experience designing and building large-scale, distributed systems using microservices architecture.
• Deep understanding of AWS and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in at least one or more of the following programming languages:  JavaScript, Python, Django, TypeScript, JSX).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and infrastructure as code (IaC).
• Solid grasp of security principles and best practices for system design.

Soft Skills:

• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Your day at NTT DATA

As a DATA Centre Technical Architect at NTT DATA, you will be the cornerstone for designing and implementing top-notch DATA centre infrastructures. You will work hand-in-hand with cross-functional teams to transform business requirements into efficient and reliable DATA centre solutions as part of our pre-sales process.

You will be responsible for the entire architecture, including servers, storage systems, networking equipment, power and cooling systems, and physical security measures. Your role will require evaluating and recommending DATA centre services to align with our business needs, ensuring top security and compliance standards.

Your strategic input will be crucial as you analyse, develop, and recommend long-term plans to ensure our DATA centres meet both current and future requirements. As a trusted technical advisor, you will provide guidance and support to development teams during the implementation of collaborative solutions.

You will design and optimize network architectures using technologies like VMware, Hyper-V, and KVM, ensuring they perform optimally and are highly scalable and secure. From managing client proof-of-concept initiatives to producing comprehensive technical documentation and specifications, your expertise will ensure our solutions achieve client objectives effectively.

You will be influential in guiding members of the Sales team, ensuring they are equipped to close deals and maintain forecasting and sales pipelines. Handling scope of work determination, product pricing, and rFP/rFI responses will also be part of your remit.

• Comprehensive knowledge of DATA centre infrastructure components, networking technologies, and virtualization (such as VMware, Hyper-V, and KVM).
