**Responsibilities:**
+ Deploy and operate new data center infrastructure across teams.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is currently hiring for an Engineering Technician to support our data centers. The Engineering Technician will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations.
The Data Center Engineering Technician will be responsible for ensuring the overall operation and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment within the data center. This equipment supports mission-critical servers and must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. The Data Center Engineering Technician will continue to maintain high reliability and performance while keeping operating costs in facilities at a minimum.
Engineering Technicians are Amazon's front line when it comes to hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting. They will maintain, operate, and troubleshoot, Data Center Operation's Mission Critical Facilities, which includes stand-by diesel generators and related fuel systems, as well as three phase electrical systems such as: switch gear, UPSs, PDUs, wet cell batteries and associated systems, CRAC, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers/water chemical system, air handlers and associated systems, pumps, & motors.
Key job responsibilities
Responsibilities:
* Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance
* Perform limited maintenance tasks to include: filter changes, battery system PMs, and Rack PDU & Rack ATS replacements
* Perform root cause analysis for operational issues
* Troubleshoot facility and rack level events
* Ensure all personnel on-site follow safety protocols
* Work on-call and a rotating schedule as needed
* Take daily operational readings and provide metrics reporting to senior engineers
* Perform basic support concepts such as ticketing systems, root cause analysis, and task prioritization

They will maintain, operate, and troubleshoot mission-critical data center facility equipment including electrical support equipment such as stand-by diesel generators and related fuel systems, 3 phase electrical systems that include but not limited to switchgear, UPS units, PDUs, and wet cell batteries and associated systems. Mechanical equipment includes CRAC units, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers/water chemical system, air handlers and associated systems, pumps, and motors. Additional support equipment is included in the scope of the role which includes fire suppression systems, building automation systems, and general facilities equipment.
Key job responsibilities
* Oversee all aspects of the data center's critical physical infrastructure. Ensure that all work performed within the space is done to high quality and without impact to internal/external customers.
* Manage teams of 24x7 engineering technicians to support and operate data center facilities.
* Engage in improvement projects, often requiring reaching out to a variety of support teams, and drive them from conception to completion.
* Coordinates daily with a multitude of third party vendors ensuring adherence to contracted SLAs
* Effectively and efficiently manage the operations budget and expenditures
* Routinely operate as the afterhours on-call Data Center Facility Manager for the data centers in the region. This will include responding to any issues within the data centers and managing the investigation, mitigation, and recovery of the issue(s)
Basic Qualifications
* Experience in facilities and/or construction management, demonstrating progressive responsibility and growth within the facilities/construction industry.
* Have strong facilities management experience.
* Ability to conduct financial business case analysis / translate information into useful formats and draw conclusions
* Experience building and manage budgets.
* Familiarity with business process documentation and improvement
* Ability to lead negotiations, and manage high level meetings and discussions.
* Proven track record of taking ownership and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
* Excellent listening, verbal, written, and skills.
