Contract Period: October 1, 2025 – September 30, 2026 (with opportunity for extension)

Salary: 22,000-27,000 baht Negotiable, based on experience and skills (in Thai Baht)

Introduction: Bring The Elephant Home

The Asian elephant, a keystone species, is threatened with extinction as deforestation has destroyed much of its habitat, food supply and migration routes. To survive, elephants often search for food and water outside of protected areas, resulting in conflicts between elephants and people. Over the last three generations, a population decline of at least 50% has been estimated, with a current population of less than 40,000 wild Asian elephants.

Bring The Elephant Home's mission is to ensure the well-being and survival of elephants, contribute to socio-ecological resilience, and work towards a world in which people and elephants can thrive. Our community-based conservation strategy, developed over more than a decade, integrates the diverse values of elephants and implements solutions that provide mutually beneficial outcomes for people, elephants and the environment. Our projects are inclusive and promote shared decision-making, ownership, sustainability, equality, pride, and partnerships. We believe that when local people take ownership of conservation efforts, lasting positive change will happen.

Your Role

As Community Engagement Coordinator, you will play a key role in strengthening collaboration between local communities, protected area authorities, and BTEH researchers. You will lead community engagement activities, facilitate training, and provide administrative and research support for the Elephant Research Programme.

General Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and facilitate community workshops and training events with local stakeholders.
• Support professional communication between BTEH and stakeholders by organizing meetings, research updates, and data collection trips.
• Maintain relationships with protected area staff, local government, community leaders, and NGOs.
• Manage administrative tasks such as drafting and translating documents (Thai English).

Elephant Research Programme Responsibilities

• Develop training materials and deliver community workshops for guides and drivers in Kuiburi National Park.
• Support local farmers and stakeholders in applying conservation technology to reduce human-elephant conflict.
• Interpret BTEH research data and communicate findings in accessible formats for stakeholders.
• Assist BTEH researchers in fieldwork, including monthly camera trap maintenance and data collection.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental science, social science, community development, conservation biology, forestry, or a related field.
• Fluency in Thai and English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Strong skills in public speaking, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
• Ability to live and work in a rural setting, collaborate with diverse teams, and adapt to challenging field conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Valid Thai driver's license and experience with off-road driving.
• Basic data visualization skills (charts, graphs, infographics).
• Experience organizing community meetings, workshops, or training events.
• Experience working in multicultural and multidisciplinary environments.

ความรับผิดชอบทั่วไป

• สนับสนุนการประสานงานระหว่างมูลนิธิฯ และผู้มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้อง เช่น การจัดประชุม ลงพื้นที่เก็บข้อมูล และสรุปผลการวิจัย
• สร้างและรักษาความสัมพันธ์กับเจ้าหน้าที่เขตอนุรักษ์ หน่วยงานท้องถิ่น ผู้นำชุมชน และองค์กรพัฒนาเอกชน (NGOs)
• จัดทำเอกสารและงานแปล (ไทย อังกฤษ) เพื่อสนับสนุนงานโครงการวิจัยช้าง

ความรับผิดชอบเฉพาะโครงการวิจัยช้าง

• พัฒนาสื่อการเรียนรู้ และจัดการอบรม สำหรับมัคคุเทศก์และพนักงานขับรถในอุทยานแห่งชาติกุยบุรี
• สนับสนุนเกษตรกรและผู้มีส่วนได้ส่วนเสียท้องถิ่นในการใช้เทคโนโลยีเพื่อบรรเทาความขัดแย้งระหว่างคนกับช้าง
• แปลผลข้อมูลการวิจัยของมูลนิธิฯ และสื่อสารให้ผู้เกี่ยวข้องเข้าใจได้ง่าย
• เข้าร่วมกิจกรรมภาคสนามกับนักวิจัยของมูลนิธิฯ เช่น การตรวจสอบกล้องดักถ่ายและการเก็บข้อมูลรายเดือน

คุณสมบัติที่จำเป็น

• วุฒิปริญญาตรี สาขาวิทยาศาสตร์สิ่งแวดล้อม สังคมศาสตร์ มนุษยศาสตร์ การพัฒนาชุมชน ชีววิทยาการอนุรักษ์ ป่าไม้ หรือสาขาใกล้เคียง
• ความสามารถด้านภาษาไทยและอังกฤษ (ฟัง พูด อ่าน เขียน) ได้อย่างดี
• มีความมั่นใจในการพูดต่อสาธารณะ การจัดประชุม/อบรม และการสื่อสารกับหลายระดับ
• ใช้โปรแกรม Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) และ Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides) ได้
• มีทักษะการทำงานร่วมกับทีมที่หลากหลาย สามารถใช้ชีวิตและทำงานในพื้นที่ชนบท และปรับตัวกับสภาพการทำงานที่ท้าทายได้
