About The Role - You Will

• Develop, test, and implement PC-based software for automated machinery, including a few PLCs and HMIs
• Collaborate with the maintenance and process teams to analyze system requirements and design software solutions for improving manufacturing processes, machine performance and supporting product requirement changes
• Create and maintain software documentation, including machine service manuals and technical specifications
• Troubleshoot and resolve software and controls hardware-related issues on the production floor
• Continuously improve on existing equipment for production line efficiency improvement; as well as develop new automation machines

About You

• Bachelor's or higher degree in engineering and/or equivalent experience
• Object-oriented programming in C# and C++
• Proficiency in Microsoft Visual Studio software with GitHub integration
• DAQ, IO and Motion control on Fieldbus systems
• Understanding of industrial communication protocols and network architectures, such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, DeviceNet, CAN and EtherCAT
• Experience in working with mechanical design, including electrical and pneumatic controls hardware selection for creating detailed designs and prototypes

What You'll Do:

· Design, review, and verify instrumentation and control systems, including P&IDs, loop diagrams, and datasheets.

· Supervise installation, calibration, and commissioning of field instruments and control systems.

· Ensure compliance with project specifications, international codes, and safety standards.

· Coordinate with site teams, electrical engineers, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues.

· Support testing, inspections, and documentation for instrumentation works.

· Maintain accurate records of instrument data, calibration reports, and inspection results.

What We're Looking For:

· Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Control Engineering.

· Proven experience in Instrumentation Engineering for Oil & Gas, EPC, or large construction projects.

· Strong knowledge of control systems, field instruments, and process measurement devices.

· Familiarity with international instrumentation standards and codes.

· Excellent documentation, reporting, and coordination skills.

· Proficient in MS Office and engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, SmartPlant Instrumentation, or similar).

1.    BASIC PURPOSE

Provide engineering support in electrical and instrumentation systems, with a primary focus on utility and facility management. The role involves coordinating with contractors and technicians, supporting daily operations, and ensuring maintenance activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with standards. The engineer will also perform tasks as assigned by the E&I Supervisor to support departmental goals.

2.    MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

2.1 Electrical & Instrumentation

·    Support E&I Supervisor in managing daily maintenance tasks and contractor coordination.

·    Oversee utility and facility systems to ensure reliable operation.

·    Assist in planning and executing preventive and corrective maintenance activities.

·    Review and update technical documentation, loop drawings, and maintenance records.

·    Perform SAP PM updates and corrections as needed.

·    Coordinate with E&I technicians and contractors to ensure safe and effective work execution.

·    Provide support during emergency situations, including shift coverage if required.

·    Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

2.2   Process Safety Management

·    Maintain and review systems which impact process safety (procedures, process change, refresher training, new installation training, etc.) such that the integrity of the management system is maintained in areas of maintenance.

Safety, Health, and Environment/ Quality and Food Safety

·    Support quality & food safety, EHS policies and procedures by ensuring that all maintenance work and engineering projects assigned have been critically reviewed for safety & health considerations.

·    Provide training assistance and coaching whenever possible to ensure employee safety awareness and practices are of a high standard.

·    Monitor and ensure completion of periodic inspections as outlined in the facilities inspection manual, to ensure safety and reliability of equipment.

·    Act as a liaison with inspection and insurance agencies in terms of annual equipment inspections, insurance related inspections, provincial/federal mandated inspections and IFF regulated inspections. ·

·    Ensure that engineering projects are completed in such a way that the work supports existing environmental regulations.

·    Conduct investigations into any system failures and develop and implement programs to prevent re-occurrence.

·    Participate in site Environmental Health and safety programs, behavioral based safety, Hazard Recognition, Hazard identification, Environmental Aspect, emergency response, audits and emergency response activities as required.

·    Comply with external and internal requirements and regulations (SEDEX, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, Environmental Health and Safety Audit).

·    Participate in site quality programs, behavioral based quality & food safety activities, audits and risk base on quality & food safety activities as required.

·    Follow cGMP & HACCP Practice.

Budgeting/Purchasing/Cost Control

·    Assist in identifying spare parts and materials needed for maintenance tasks.

·    Support cost-effective maintenance practices and reliability improvements.

3   QUALIFICATIONS

3.1 Education / Experience

·    Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or related Engineering field.

· –5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment (internship/co-op experience is a plus).

·    Familiarity with electrical systems, instrumentation, and control systems.

·    Exposure to SAP or other maintenance systems is an advantage.

·    Experience as multi-craft maintenance supervisor preferred but not required.

·    Hands-on experience in chemical industry and food processing is preferred.

3.2 Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

·    Strong willingness to learn and grow in a hands-on engineering role.

·    Good communication and teamwork skills.

·    Basic understanding of safety and quality standards in manufacturing.

·    Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, basic CAD or DCS/PLC tools preferred).

·    Ability to work under supervision and take initiative when appropriate.
