Location: Bangkok (multi-site) + domestic travel

Team: Shop Supervisors/Gym Operations Manager, Financial Controller, Marketing Manager, Board of Directors



Role summary

Own the full commercial performance of Stonegoat's merchandise business in Thailand — covering in-gym shops (B2C), wholesale distribution (B2B), and future new sales channels (e-commerce and beyond). Scope is not limited to climbing equipment only, but includes all merchandise categories. You will plan assortments, buy, price, merchandise, forecast demand, manage inventory turns, run promotions, build retail standards, expand B2B partnerships, and develop new channels such as online sales.

Success is measured by profitable growth, healthy stock and cash cycle, strong brand awareness and market share, and delighted climbers and B2B partners.



Key responsibilities
1) B2C: In-gym retail (merchandise shops)
  • P&L ownership: Deliver revenue, gross margin %, GMROI, stock turns, shrink, and shop labor productivity for each location.
  • Assortment & buying: Seasonal line planning by category (climbing shoes, chalk, tape, apparel, packs, accessories, gifts), Min. Order Quantity/lead times, size curves, and open-to-buy discipline.
  • Pricing & promotions: Margin-led pricing, key-item strategy, bundles (day pass + chalk/tape), member offers, and clearance cadence.
  • Visual merchandising & standards: Planograms, new-release displays, fitting/try-on flow for shoes, size/fit tools, Point of Purchase education.
  • Operations: Receiving, cycle counts, shrink controls, Return to Vendor/defect handling, stock transfers between branches, click-&-collect (if used).
  • Customer experience: Fit consultations for shoes, product education, after-sales, warranty routing.
  • People: Hire, train, schedule and coach Shop staff on sales techniques, product knowledge, and loss prevention.
  • Systems & reporting: Keep item masters clean, barcodes correct, categories/attributes consistent; weekly trade report (sell-thru %, Weeks Of Supply, top/slow SKUs).
  • Future retail design: Contribute to the planning and design of retail spaces in new gyms, ensuring layouts, fixtures, product flow, and customer experience are optimized from day one.
2) B2B: Wholesale (Thailand)
  • Channel strategy & coverage: Define target account list (climbing gyms, outdoor/specialty, school/uni clubs, pro teams, e-commerce partners).
  • Sales execution: Prospecting, outreach, line showings/demos, seasonal pre-orders, in-season reorders, terms negotiation within policy.
  • Account management: Sell-through support (clinics for staff, sizing days, Point of Purchase kits, launch calendars), order book health, returns/warranty policies.
  • Distributor operations: Forecasting by model/size run, allocation logic in constraint, price lists, Min. Advertised Price policy compliance, and territory reporting to brand.
  • Trade marketing: Seeding & ambassador program with setters/coaches, event booths, demo nights, PR with local climbing media, digital co-op with key accounts.
  • Compliance: Brand guidelines, authorized dealer agreements, and documentation required for imports and tax.
3) Planning, finance, and control
  • Demand Forecast: 12-month rolling forecast and monthly open-to-buy with clear targets by category.
  • Cash & inventory: Target turns, safety stock and reorder points; minimise dead stock and aged inventory with markdown strategy.
  • Data & insights: Weekly/monthly dashboards; root-cause on misses; action plans.
  • Cross-functional: Work with Coaching/Events on merch tie-ins; with Marketing on campaigns; with Finance on credit control and collections for B2B; IT to develop necessary BI/reporting infrastructure.
4) New channel development
  • E-commerce: Build Stonegoat's online retail presence, including platform selection (own site vs. marketplaces), product listings, fulfillment workflows, customer service, and digital promotions.
  • Omnichannel retail: Integrate online with gyms (e.g. click-&-collect, ship-from-store, returns across channels).
  • New partnerships: Evaluate and negotiate with digital partners (e-commerce platforms, payment/fulfillment providers, affiliate partners).
  • Innovation: Identify and test emerging sales opportunities (subscription packs, corporate sales, cross-gym membership bundles, etc.).
  • Roadmap: Develop a clear channel expansion plan with financial projections and milestones.


Experience & Qualifications
  • 3+ years in retail merchandising/retail operations and B2B account sales, ideally in sporting goods, outdoor, or footwear/apparel.
  • Proven P&L ownership, OTB planning, and inventory management at multi-site scale.
  • Experience launching or scaling brands in relevant categories within Thailand (nice-to-have).
  • Strong negotiation and key-account management; comfortable with Excel/Sheets, POS/ERP, and dashboard tools.
  • Thai & English proficiency; valid Thai driving license; ability to travel domestically.
  • Passion for climbing/outdoor sports and shoe fitting knowledge is a plus.
Working Locations
  • Based in Bangkok HQ with frequent time on-site in Stonegoat gyms and at partner accounts; evening/weekend work during events or shop peak as needed.
