Position: Teaching Assistant

Department: Academic

Report to: Head of Teaching Assistant

AimTo assist students within the classroom with their learning. To support teachers and help provide the most effective learning environment for students.

Duties & Responsibilities:Supporting the students

  1. To develop knowledge of a range of learning support that can be given to students
  2. Work with groups of students or individuals to help them engage in the learning objectives of the lesson. e.g.:

- clarifying and explaining instructions

- ensuring the student is able to use the equipment and materials provided

- motivating and encouraging the student

- assisting students in areas of weakness, behavior, ability to focus, reading

- question students to ensure their understanding

- encourage group work and try to involve all students

- praise students and develop their self esteem

Supporting the teacher

1.To help organize the classroom in a clear way

2.To assist in the preparation of resources and equipment needed for lessons

3.To assist with the displays in the class and around the school

4.To work alongside the teacher during lessons

5.To inform the teacher of individual student difficulties or achievement that has been observed during lessons

6.To supervise the classes movement around the school and to specialist lessons

7.To consistently maintain behavior codes of conduct

Supporting the school

    8.Contribute to the development of the whole-school, including attendance at staff meetings, in-service training days and through membership of 'task / working groups'  and through support of school functions.

   9.Maintain an interest in, and overview of, educational developments, especially in relation to teaching and learning.

    10.Maintain a full application of the principles laid down in school policy documentation - e.g. Code of Conduct, Dress Code, etc.

Additional Responsibilities

  1. Undertake supervision duties at break or lunchtime and before or after school.
  2. Undertake any other duties that the Headmaster, Head of Primary or Head of Teaching Assistant may reasonably request from time to time.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum educational qualification:  Bachelor Degree
  • Minimum no. of years of working experience:  0-2 years.
  • Good command in English
  • Be able to relate well with the students and expat staff.
  • Be creative
  • Proactive and positive thinking

Reports to: School Director, Deputy Director for Academic Services, Assistant Director for Academics, and Head of Department

Working Hours: 7:00 a.m. – 4: p.m. (8-hour day, 40-hour week)

Position Summary

The STEM Teacher Assistant at KMIDS supports high-quality instruction in robotics, IT, and STEM-related subjects for middle and high school students. This role involves co-teaching and leading lessons, mentoring student projects, preparing students for competitions, and contributing to school-wide academic and extracurricular programs. The position requires strong subject knowledge, effective classroom management, a passion for STEM education, and a collaborative, professional attitude that aligns with KMIDS's mission of fostering innovation and academic excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Learning Support
  • Assist in designing and delivering engaging lesson plans for middle and high school students in robotics (Lego Mindstorms EV3, LEGO Spike Prime) and IT-related subjects.
  • Lead or co-teach classroom sessions, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical STEM applications.
  • Prepare and coach students for robotics competitions at national and international levels.
  • Supervise and mentor student projects, encouraging collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving.
  • Clearly communicate learning objectives and promote KMIDS ESLO (Expected Student Learning Outcomes).
  • Utilize technology effectively to enhance teaching and learning.
Student Support & Management
  • Encourage student participation and foster independent learning.
  • Guide students on academic and social matters, ensuring adherence to school rules and positive behavior.
  • Provide constructive feedback to students and track academic progress.
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with students.
Collaboration & Communication
  • Work collaboratively with faculty across disciplines to promote integrated learning experiences.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and supervisors regarding student performance and concerns.
  • Complete and submit required reports and documentation in a timely manner.
Professionalism & School Engagement
  • Actively participate in school improvement and accreditation processes.
  • Uphold high professional, ethical, and moral standards, including adherence to school policies and professional dress code.
  • Stay updated with developments in STEM education, curriculum design, and teaching methodologies.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and training sessions.
  • Contribute to school-wide activities such as admissions, Open House, Parent-Teacher Conferences, assemblies, Week Without Walls, and extracurricular programs (including occasional evenings and weekends).
  • Support a collaborative and positive workplace environment by sharing best practices and offering assistance to colleagues.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by school leadership.

Job Specification

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Education, STEM-related fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), Computer Science, Robotics, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years' teaching or relevant STEM/ Robotics experience (International school experience preferred)
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal); proficiency in Thai is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of robotics platforms (LEGO Mindstorms EV3, LEGO Spike Prime) and STEM-related applications.
  • Effective classroom management skills with the ability to motivate and support students.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Positive, professional, and flexible attitude with a passion for STEM education and student development.
