Key Responsibilities:

The SEND Lead TA will need to be prepared to work with flexibility on a variety of issues ranging from SEND related behaviours, inclusion of children and sensitive parent communication.

The Lead TA for SEND will provide a complementary service to teachers and other staff, addressing the needs of learners who require support and scaffolding in overcoming barriers to learning in order to achieve their full potential.

The SEND Lead TA will:

  • be responsible to the SENDCO
  • report monthly to the SENDCO
  • work closely with the SENDCO, LEAD TA's and, Vice Principal(s) and Deputy Principal on operational matters relating to students' academic, emotional and social wellbeing.
  • work closely with the teachers and support staff to provide support of the highest quality;
  • oversee the management of small group intervention programmes across the whole school where appropriate.

Tasks:

The SEND Lead TA will:

  • work with students either individually or in small groups, taking direction from SENDCO, organising and running specific clubs.
  • conduct identified prearranged student check-in's during lesson time.
  • be available breaktimes and lunchtimes as required (clashes in timetables to be discussed with SENDCO Lead beforehand).
  • build and maintain successful relationships with students, treat them consistently, with respect and consideration.
  • maintain accurate records, prepare written reports and evaluations.
  • undertake relevant training.
  • share best practice with all staff.
  • be involved and attend parent meetings where appropriate.
  • support SENDCO in liaising with relevant professionals and individuals where necessary.
  • motivate and encourage students.
  • help to develop programmes and adapt appropriate materials to cater for an identified need.
  • support Parents in Partnerships.
  • provide a link between Teaching Assistants and Line Manager, communicating problems and concerns and finding solutions.

Professional Expectations:

The SEND Lead TA will:

  • be committed to fulfilling the school's core values
  • be familiar with the contents of the Staff Handbook and The School Policy Compendium and implement the procedures as appropriate;
  • commit fully to The School's Performance Management programme;
  • attend Professional Development (INSET and external) as determined by the Principal within the bounds set in the Employment Agreement;
  • undertake Thai Language and Culture training as required by The Ministry of Education (Thailand);
  • commit to The School's extra-curricular programmes
  • communicate with students, colleagues and parents in a respectful and courteous manner in accordance with the paradigms established by The Principal;
  • set the tone for students in attendance, punctuality, appearance, dress, courtesy and professionalism.
