Position Overview:
ES Physical Education Teachers design and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons that foster physical literacy (skill cues), teamwork, and a lifelong commitment to health and well-being. They create inclusive environments where all students experience success, challenge, and joy through movement. Collaborating with colleagues, they connect physical education to social-emotional learning and the ISB curriculum. PE teachers coach athletics teams, model ISB's values of care, respect, and integrity, and contribute to a positive, active school culture.
Teachers at ISB:
- Provide meaningful, intentional learning opportunities aligned with the practices, standards, benchmarks, and learning outcomes of the ISB curriculum, along with its Vision, Mission, Core Values, and Community of Practice
- Actively participate in collaborative team meetings with a growth mindset and focus on improving learning for all students
- Partner with counselors, administration, and other staff to ensure care and support for the social, emotional and learning success of students
- Assess student learning and provide timely, quality feedback to improve student learning
- Adjust for learning needs based on students' needs using a data informed approach
- Demonstrate skill at differentiating within the classroom for students needing extension and enrichment as well as those needing support
- Engage in professional development to ensure research-supported practices in the instruction and care of children are used at ISB
- Communicate directly and collaboratively with parents or guardians to positively improve student learning and/or well-being
- Positively contribute to school culture through positivity, care for others, and shared sense of purpose and community
- Maintain a mindset of high expectations facilitated through systems of high support
Other Duties:
- Support and model the development of healthy, active lifestyles and positive sportsmanship across the school community.
- Teach and assess fundamental movement and sport-specific skills using clear skill cues aligned with SHAPE standards to ensure progression and mastery across grade levels.
- Collaborate to create cross-curricular connections that integrate movement, wellness, and social-emotional learning.
- Coach athletics teams and contribute annually to the ISB athletics program, fostering teamwork, skill development, and school spirit.
- Maintain safe, well-organized learning environments and equipment, ensuring all students can participate fully and confidently in physical activity.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of the ES Physical Education curriculum and department initiatives.

Primary Physical Education Teacher (Starting 2026/27)

Primary Physical Education (PE) Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging, and inclusive Physical Education across Foundation Stage to Key Stage 2. The role is central to fostering independent, confident and resilient learners in line with the school's mission, vision and values. Reporting to the Leader of Learning, Primary PE, the teacher will plan and implement a progressive curriculum, differentiate for diverse learning needs, monitor and assess achievement, and contribute to the extensive extra-curricular programme across the school. We are looking for an active and integral member of the staff team who responsible for teaching physical education (core PE and IB) and swimming to school children. Their duties include planning and leading PE lessons, getting students to compete in sporting events and attending fixtures.
We are looking for a team member with the following;
- Bachelor degree in related field with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- A minimum of 3 years (desirable) FT teaching experience in a recognised educational institution
- Up-to-date knowledge of the UK PE curriculum
- Experience teaching IGCSE and IB are essential to this role
- Excellent communication skills, multi-tasking and time management
- Ability to work as a part of a team and an interest in participating in the wider school community
